I have it with trees this season. As mentioned earlier, we had some trees cut. On Thursday evening, while I travelled to the Bay Area for a SQL H2 adhoc (SQL/XML) standards meeting, Seattle had another wind storm. This time it came from the south-west. On Friday morning, my wife called me and told me that a smaller fir tree (a 15 meter) on our westerly border (could also be our neighbor's tree) actually broke off at about 3m height and feel over the fence onto the roof of our garage! Ouch! I took some pictures that I will upload some time next week.
So, instead of writing my mid-term review, I spend my Saturday morning with a friend getting the tree from the roof. We were lucky. The tree broke at just the right height to fall over the fence (only causing minimal damage) and low enough to fall horizontal onto the roof, thus not even damaging the (old) shingles. Fiskars makes a mean branch cutter, so we quickly removed the tree from the roof. And my friend took home some firewood for his help.
I wonder what other tree stories will keep us busy for the reminder of the stormy season. I hope that this was the last one...
