Season's Greetings

I am shocked that it has been three months since my last posting. Please accept my apologies but I was busy. We have been working hard to improve performance of the XML features and add some minor functional improvements (more on that early next year) and I was also busy attending W3C meetings and presenting.

Today, I will be commenting a Register article that looked at an Alpha annoucement of IBM's new XML database support. I am planning on giving some feedback on my SQLPASS and XML2004 visits and presentations (as well as providing some of the example code fragments). The later will probably take a couple of days (since I am still busy).

As many of you have noticed, the SQL Server 2005 Beta2 has received some updates in form of so called community tech previews (CTPs) that are worthwhile getting. Starting with the next CTP, you should also see some of the Beta3 XML work at which time I will give you some tips and point out some of the functional additions and changes.

Today, I had the pleasure to enjoy a good lunch at the DevelopMentor SQL Server 2005 Guerilla course presented by Bob Beauchemin an the gang (Kent was also present) in exchange of doing a Q&A session with the attendees. It was fun, and I enjoyed the interest and the questions.

Finally, let me wish you all the best for the holidays and a happy new year.
