Cutting trees

As mentioned in an earlier blog entry, we had to get some trees taken out: three tall (ca 40m high) douglas firs and one maple. See the “Cutting Trees” gallery for a few pictures.

I was a pity, but the latest wind storms broke huge branches off  that almost hit our sun room or landed in the maple tree and hung over our kitchen like the sword of Damocles. Since we wanted to avoid damage to the house or yard and got a company with a crane to take them out and prune the remaining maple and fir trees that are far enough to be of no immediate threat.

I needed to get a permit from the city which I managed to acquire in less than 24 hours. The tree guys were amazed: they never saw a permit granted that fast :-). But now we have to plant four new trees to fulfill the requirement of the permit.
