Another tree story and travel woes
After having given two home tree stories here and here, let me give you a more positive and interesting story. Last Sunday, we spent some time at the Big Basin Redwoods Californian State Park. The Coastal Redwood trees have an interesting way of using cloning to basically be immortal. A single tree trunk can become more than 2000 years old. However, a tree can basically clone new trunks by root sprouting and thus continue to live on even if the old trunk dies. Pretty cool eh?! Here are some more links about my favorite trees:

A highly recommended excursion if you are in the SF Bay Area!
We did a short hike but then had to catch an Alaska Airline evening flight home. What we didn't know then was that the plane was 5 hours delayed and instead of getting back at around 10pm (22:00), we got home after 3 o'clock in the morning (we could have done a longer hike). Alaska Airline was very nice in giving us free travel vouchers, but I am still a bit concerned about that this was the third time in the last half a year that an Alaska Airline plane had some minor mechanical problem that needed to be fixed (two oil leaks and this time the plane had a non-functioning de-icer). What about having better maintenance and newer planes?
