Defining a standardized, interoperable "binary XML": why not!

Dare Obasanjo just published a good summary of why standardizing a “binary XML“ is a bad idea. My musings on this topic can be read in the Nov 2003 XML-DEV archives (such as the mail containing the cited paragraph in today's Cafe con Leche Quote of the Day) and in the archives of the W3C binary XML workshop where I presented Microsoft's (and this case also my) position.
