Couple of days ago I received email from Rob Zare about the upcoming book on MDX that he spotted on amazon, called "Problem solving for MDX for SQL Server 2005". Since books dedicated to MDX are rare, I was eager to check it out. Imagine my amazement, when I discovered, that I am listed as one of the authors, along with Rob Zare and Mark Whitehorn. Neither one of us knew anything about it. It's true that about a year and half ago we were thinking about sequel to "Fast Track to MDX", and we even made some progress (I, for example, wrote few chapters), but due to all kinds of reasons we have shelved that idea. We definitely didn't even think about the name of the book, and now it appears on amazon complete with information such as number of pages (350!), cover type (hardcover - why?), and most interestingly release date - October 16, 2007. This book is vapor, but amazon let's you rate it, write reviews and even mark "I own it". And Joseph Salvatore already included this book into his Listmania list "Professional SQL Server BI and Development Must Haves" with comment "This looks to be a must consider book. Cannot wait for this to be released". So perhaps it's time to dig out these chapters written year and half ago and start writing again - there is still time left until October 16...
