DeltaMaster - Pure .NET OLAP client for Analysis Services
Another addition to the list of Analysis Services clients. Only last week I wondered whether I found first pure .NET client for Analysis Services, and this week I received email which described something that looks like pretty sophisticated OLAP browser - DeltaMaster from German company Bizzantz. The menu is packed with powerful analytical operations both from OLAP and Data Mining (although it is not clear whether Data Mining takes advantage of built-in Analysis Services data mining algorithms or implements them inside DeltaMaster itself). One interesting feature of DeltaMaster is “Virtual Hierarchies”. It is actually a fancier name to the grouping members feature which exists in both Excel and OWC, but what makes it interesting, is that those groups can be created automatically based on the preceding analytical operations. For example, the screenshot below demonstrates how user performed ABC analysis - i.e. classified products into 3 categories based on defined thresholds - and the grouping is established based on such classification.
