It is kind of scary how much alike Mike and are in terms of

Sad but true: Nowadays, rather than
demanding "show me the world and all that is in it, teach me how to learn and
how to be an educated, ethical citizen in our complex modern world", students
are demanding "give me a piece of paper that will get me a better job than my
neighbour, and if you show me anything that offends my narrow view of how the
world works, I'll sue."

Myths Debunked |

I believe this your right. In the Yukon bits we have today, the Reporting
Services bits are much younger than the released bits for production today. I
do expect better interoperation when Yukon RTMs -- hopefully seamless.
-
Yep, seems that too many people don't get that. There's a
great white paper out about architecting RS platforms.
-
Correct.
-
Its just a matter of writing an RDL file, you can do that with NotePad or an
XSLT if you're so brave.
-
Correct. In fact, if you can connect to a data source using ODBC or OLE DB, you
can use it with Reporting Services. You can also write your own data providers
if needed.

REAL reason for Whidbey/Yukon delays |
WILY |
It's frickin Visual Studio for petes sake. It's not like people aren't going to
buy it. I still don't understand. How is Whidbey's delay increase MICROSOFT's
chances of failing? This isn't a rinky-dink development project for a
5-employee client. It's a product central to Microsoft's platform strategy. I'm
pretty sure they're going to spend as much time/money/talent as necessary to
get it right.
I don't get it either, Robert.
