Spent last Friday, Saturday and Sunday with Michael and Laurie Thompson-Earls in Atlanta (Douglasville). I'll say that I couldn't have had better hosts nor a more relaxing break. Friday I ate like a pig at Williamson Brothers (I love 'cue just as much as I love Sushi) and visited Arbor Place to stock up on Malty Beverages. Excellent selection of Belgiums and Belgium style ales. Saturday morning we piled into WaffleHouse for breakfast -- its just been ages since I had decent Grits -- then ran over to Sam's to do a little pre-party shopping. Later that evening, we had a geek cookout I got to meet Mark Dunn, Doug Ware and Titus Barek. One problem: half-way through the evening, my head started to feel like it was about to split open. I don't want to say it was Michael's crazy idea about “mobile code agents” that did it, though. Sunday was super relaxing as we mostly played Unreal, drank yet more beer and eventually ventured out to Nakato. Enjoyed really good Sushi -- the Shogu Su in particular -- and mind-blwoingly good bottle of Tenzan Sake. We wandered around the Borders in Lenox Mall for a bit afterwards too.
Of all the thing we did, though, just being around Michael and Laurie was the best.
