Monday seems as though it were a month ago, but it is hard to believe that is
Friday already. Over Wednesday and Thursday, I had 18 hours of "Seven Habits of
Highly Effective People" training. Again. It is hard to disengage from and keep
wanting to apply its patterns immediately. But I've been there and done that.
Yes, they work. Slowly. But they work, and I am more patient now.
The first thought other than that on my mind is an email I got last night.
Saying no is hard, especially when you so want to say yes. But if I were to go
down that path right now, it wouldn't be the best for anybody. Patience,
hopefully, will continue to be my best virtue and the opportunity will come
around again when it is best for all.
Another email -- related to the first -- does have me very excited about some
things that will soon be announced. I'd so love to be someplace to see the
reaction. At the same time, it just affirms that I've made the right choices so
far and the future looks positively awesome. We should never assume that anyone
is simply resting on their successes.
There is no such thing as a bad blueberry pancake when the blueberries are
fresh, the syrup is warm and the bacon is cut thick.
I'll be heading to Bloomington, Illinois soon to do a presentation at their
.NET user group. I'd love to hear suggestions for topics. By default, the topic
is likely to be XML in Yukon or XML in the database context.
I'm listening to Nat Goldberg again and I've got a theme I want to chase --
"Dragon howling in a withered Tree."
Speaking of user groups, having the regional INETA leader as a member of your
group pretty much rocks. We're kicking around the idea of putting together a
user-group owned one-day developer conference. We're thinking later in this year
or early in 2005. We'd like to reach out to the whole region and district, so it
probably wouldn't be held in Omaha. More thoughts on this in a later posting.
