Alter View, Create Function

I'm pleased to announce that I'll soon be writing a weekly column for the SQL Server World Wide User Group community. Steve and I are still working out some of the specifics, but I have to love the charter he's given me:

Well, frankly, you can write about anything you like, as long as it's SQL Server-related... I'm more a stickler for content than word count

I'm looking for the first article to be on-line by July 1st. I'll be taking a look at the new SQL Server Best Practices Analyzer.

I'm currently pondering a title and theme for the column. The current thought is "Alter View, Create Function." I hope to keep the level fairly high and you can bet there is going to be more than just a little Zen and Taoist philosophy woven in.

My primary focus will still be on generating content for SQL Junkies, and I expect that there is going to be a fair amount of crossing traffic. I know a number of you are waiting for XML Eye for the DBA Guy. I'm working on that -- but keep an eye on the blogs from TechEd Europe for some interesting news.

Reporting Services for the Impatient tonight in KC

In about four hours, I'll be starting my drive down to Overland Park to talk to the Kansas City .NET Special Interest Group. Amazingly, I actually have the presentation done and ready to go. If you'd like to get the PowerPoints and code demos, here they are.

The presentation starts around 7:00 and we should be done by 8:30. Although I have to start back to Omaha ASAP, I believe Jeff is putting together a pub-club before the presentation.

Meeting details here. Registration is suggested.
