Here's a quick how-to on using Stored Procedures with Reporting Services.
Luke Schollmeyer is another former HDRite. He wanted to have lunch -- specifiically Sushi Ichibahn -- so we went. They make pretty good Yakisoba, afterall. Apparently even Janell's boss agrees as he was there having a big plate of it too.
Luke and I talked about the sad state of things SQL Server in Omaha and what we might do about that. I think we agreed that we would try to pull together a group of folks who are interested in Yukon as a mutual learning and aid society. It at least seems like a good idea. If you're interested in learning more, please leave a comment here or drop me an e-mail.
We also talked about where the CLR bits really do fit into the business model today. I've got an action item to find and point out the materials on that. If you are really interested in that space, a quick visit to CLRSQL.COM
We also talked about an idea of my how an intersection of what I understand of the Semantic Web, Knowledge Management and self-validating information is. More on that later. Much later.
It never ceases to amaze me how much my brother and I are alike yet completely different. If you met us on the street -- or more likely -- at a brewfest -- you might see some physical similarities. But we're about as Country Mouse and City Mouse as you can get. He's a more than a little bit Country, and I'm more than a little bit Jazz. He likes hunting, working the land and watching The Outdoor Network. I like reading, working the keyboard and basically only watch FoodTV.
That said, we're both blessed with the language gene. It really wasn't until today that understood how richy gifted my dear brother really is. We'd had gotten into a discussion about the word queue. For us Computer Science junkies, its commonplace. In his line of work, its likely not. He wrote:
I'm devestated. I have been de-thoned. I was once known as "word boy".
I've tried to recover quietly on the issue, however it's been two days now and the sun fails to rise in the morning, only darkness now.
That's a Zenslap. Here's another, from a subsequent exchange.
Dance on my grave you heartless malefactor.
Two of them in one day. Awesome.
