Abandonware = Programas fuera ya del mercado que no se comercializan ni son soportados por la empresa que los creó (en muchos casos la empresa ni siquiera existe más).

En la revista Rolling Stone Argentina (número 83, Febrero 2005) apareció una nota acerca de los juegos "abandonware". La nota es bastante liviana y es escasa de contenido... pero me ha motivado a buscar más por mi cuenta en:

El sitio de la BBC "Aprenda inglés" es muy bueno para practicar la pronunciación inglesa quienes no hablamos en forma nativa ese idioma. Se publican noticias en inglés, con el audio para aprender correctamente la pronunciación. También se señalan las formas gramatcales interesantes y se explican.

En la era post-XPSP2 algunos medios de prensa aterrorizaron a los usuarios. Esta vez no es Osama Bin Laden sino un presunto agujero de seguridad en el Service Pack 2 de Windows XP. La publicación eWeek lanzó la notica acerca de un "cráter de seguridad". En pocas palabras: Un usuario Administrator (o un programa ejecutado con privilegios de administrador) puede acceder a datos acerca del estado de la seguridad de su XP y puede modificarlos.

Whoa! También un administrador puede formatear su disco duro o eliminar para siempre su más querida base de datos ;-)

En Uruguay, la Noche de la Nostalgia se celebra cada 24 de Agosto. En esta noche los lugares para ir a bailar, las radios y otros espectáculos, emiten "música nostálgica" (oldies). Para esta ocasión de la Noche de la Nostalgia he hecho una breve lista de "software nostálgico" :-) Estos son los productos que recuerdo con nostalgia y simpatía: Microsoft DOS, Wordstar, dBASE III Plus, Microsoft  XENIX, el BASIC de la ZX Spectrum Plus, el PacMan, Yggdrasil Linux, el navegador Mosaic y el preparador de documentos LaTex.

 I change my Windows wallpaper so often that I am always searching for cool images. When doing some google I met this great archive of "affiches de films" (yes, it's French). Well, my initial choices were The Beatle's "A Hard Days Night" and -you bet- "Star Wars" (version 1.0 of course :-).
