Any SQL Gladiators out there who wanna blog ??? I will be more than happy to set up a blog for you. Just mail me at sqlapostle@gmail.com with your details.

Update : Still having problems with the OPML ... hope to get that fixed soon :)

Cease and desist !!!

Wow !!! Ted Neward has been served a "cease and desist" letter by Sun for Javageeks.com use of Sun's trademarks in its company name, as well the other uses of Sun's trademarks on the www.javageeks.com web site which they say are inconsistent with Sun's Trademark and Logo Usage Requirements.

Hey, this leads me to think twice about using any images related to SQL Server on my upcoming site www.sqlserverarena.com !!! So the question that is obviously bothering me is, “What are Microsoft's rules on use of its trademarks on a community site ?”

Community Server 1.0 Beta

This is almost a dream come true ... have been thinking of installing Community :: Forums and Community :: Blogs on my new website and Telligent Systems comes out with Community Server 1.0 Beta .

Now only if someone could help me configure the same on the server.

A Wish Fulfilled !!!

SQL 2005 Webcasts

2005Webcasts

SQL Server 2005 Webcasts

The Microsoft SQL product team is hosting special week of live MSDN Webcasts to provide you a sneak peak at what Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 has in store for the future database development. SQL Server 2005 offers a new paradigm for database development that integrates SQL Server and the CLR to provide several major benefits including enhanced programming mode, enhanced safety and security, user defined types and aggregates, and a common development environment, where database development is integrated into the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 development environment.

Bonus: Attend a live webcast in this series during the month of January and you will receive a SQL Server 2005 developer resource kit. Additionally, you could qualify for a Microsoft T-shirt or an Xbox System! See official rules for more details.

Registered for all ... its going to be one hell of a week .... work during the day and webcasts all night !!!

A shout out to all the guys at Redmond ... “Can we have some webcasts targetted towards Indian/Asian developers ???”.

I mean ... we would also like to interact with the SQL Server Team ... but the difficult timings always make it a hell to attend such webcasts. This was the only reason I had to miss out on the 64 Bit webcast series and I am sure there are a lot of other guys here who did too.

My suggestion would be that some webcasts be made after  6:30 pm  PST which would correspond with a morning time in Asian places and thus would be more targetted towards a Asian audience. Hope someone listens out to this !!!

MSDN "Suggest a Session"

Gaurav invites you to suggest a Session for MSDN events ... do jump in with ideas ...

As part of involving the developer community more closely in what we talk about in our technical events like MSDN Sessions, we have introduced Suggest a Session. It's all about you telling us what you would want us to talk about (in terms of developer tools and technologies from Microsoft), to what depth we should discuss it and how soon.

We are hearing you - talk to us more :)

Automatic Updates ???

People complain against Microsoft for forcing Windows Update on them ... to quote Bryant Likes

“Windows update is getting dangerously close to the definition of a computer virus: A program or piece of code that is loaded onto your computer without your knowledge and runs against your wishes.”

So Bryant , what would be your opinion about this ....

These are the default settings for the Mozilla 1.7.3 browser hidden deep down in the Edit Preferences Dialog under Advanced Settings -> Software installation. And I don't remember being asked to enable software updates for Mozilla. :(
