It's Not Just Microsoft: Oracle Vulnerabilities

Lest anyone believe that Microsoft products are the only ones susceptible to security vulnerabilities, CERT today released information today about multiple, serious vulnerabilities in eleven Oracle products (some are multiple versions and some are suites that include vulnerable products).

“The most serious vulnerabilities could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on an affected system.”

The real message here is that all software is susceptible to security vulnerabilities, and we as a developer community have to be vigilant just to stay one step behind attackers. And when you have products as complex and pandemic as enterprise databases, the job is many orders of magnitute harder.

That said, it is always a pleasure to hear Larry Ellison have to eat his words about how reliable and secure Oracle products are compared to Microsoft's. At least Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer act like security is a concern and that the 'Softies are working hard to make secure products.
