Security begins at home

Or at least it needs to for us developer types. According to App Developers Need to Redouble Security Efforts  on eWeek, 75% of current hacks occur at the application level. That's, well, bad. According to the Gartner analyst quoted in the article, the trend is moving towards having a separate role on the dev team for a security QA person. Are folks finding that to be true in their organizations? If not, how are you handling developing and testing with security issues in mind?
