What next, a plague of locusts?

It started simply enough, PDC in Los Angles, in October. Cool. Close to home, weather is generally nice (although downtown LA's generally the pits compared to other locations).

Then the supermarket strike [0]. Then the MTA strike [1]. Now we've got wildfires burning out of control (about 55 miles east of the Convention Center) [2]. I live about 15 miles from the main fire and the sky is full of smoke and ash. Talking to my partner Ken Getz, he said it's smoking all the way downtown and even out by LAX (right at the Ocean).

So, be prepared for public transit issues (which affect cab availability). Bring your Visine and if you have asthma or other respiratory issues, bring your inhaler, etc. Don't forget to bring some shorts, it looks to be warm, even with the wind. [3]

That said, we should be inside most of the time, so I'm sure the geek fest will still be a blast.
